Locum Hospital Speech Pathologist – January start date - Wonthaggi, VIC

Experienced Grade 1 or Grade 2 Locum Speech Pathologist required for this lovely regional health service based in regional Victoria, less than two hours from Melbourne. Join an Allied Health team that includes Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Dietetics, Podiatry, Social Work, AOD, Counselling, Social Support Groups, AHAs.
The service run a 3 month rotation model. The position would likely be 3 months on the acute ward which is a mixture of general medical, orthopaedic and neurology caseload, then 3 months in the rehab rotation which would be 3 days per week working on the rehab/GEM ward (similar case mix) and 2 days working with outpatients.
The outpatient caseload is managed as goal directed community rehabilitation involving an assessment and then up to six session therapy block if indicated (weekly or fortnightly usually). The outpatient caseload is management of dysphagia, dysarthria, dysphonia, aphasia, cognitive-communication impairments from a range of aetiologies.
Supervision can be provided fortnightly by the Grade 3 clinician and Team leader. The speech pathology team is a team of 4 (3.9EFT) working across emergency dept, acute ward, subacute ward, community adults and community preschool aged paediatrics, and residential aged care.
- Adult speech pathology experience (community or hospital based) required
- A driver’s license is required as all positions require home visits
- FREE accommodation available – it is preferable to have car to travel to and from work
- Locum rates based on experience $$
- $200 towards travel
