Consultant/Specialist Cardiologist - Northern Territory,

The Role:
Seeking experienced Cardiologists to join the Department of Medicine.
The Cardiology Service goal is to provide patient centred care, delivering evidence based best practice for all the diverse and remote population.
This includes a strong focus on research with the opportunity for further postgraduate studies, including collaborative research opportunities through the Menzies School of Health Research.

Engagement with cultural orientation is essential for any interested applicant as well as the ability to work well in a team and engage patients of the diverse multicultural background.

Key duties are:

  • Contribute to regular Cardiology 1 week ward service and after hour on call.  Approximately 9 weeks per year.
  • Contribute to the Angiography / Intervention PCI service including on call PCI service.
  • Contribute to Pacemaker / ICD implantation and management.
  • Contribute to reporting echocardiograms, Exercise tests and Stress Echocardiograms
  • Regular public outpatient, telehealth and outreach Cardiology clinics. This includes providing clinical support to nominated remote communities.
  • Contribute to the supervision and teaching of Intern’s RMO’s and Registrar’s as well as contributing to Medical Student teaching.

The Hospital has 360 beds, servicing a population of over 140,000 it is a diverse population including urban, regional, and remote centres, it is a teaching hospital and is co-located with the Private Hospital. A wide range of specialist services include Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Intensive Care and Coronary Care, acute medical and surgical, Rehabilitation, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Mental Health.

Skills & Qualifications required:
AHPRA Specialist registration with FRACP in Cardiology. Consideration will be given to applicants IMGS specialists who are substantially comparable.
