A new GP relocated to the area recently, which took the doctor headcount to just over 5 FTE GPs. With 2x FTE admin and 1.66 FTE nurses, the additional team can cover each other for their holidays and sick leave. The flexibility means that the vendor’s spouse (who looks after the finance, IT, and recruitment) is not having to work in the business and can focus on working on it!

Doctors love working here due to the high number of complex health cases they can manage. The main reason for doctor attrition from this practice is when the spouse moves away and the whole family relocates; not because they are unhappy, which speaks volumes! The long-term doctors have been in this practice for 15 to 20 years with the newer doctors in their 30s; so there is a nice blend of youth and experience!

As a MB practice, offering higher item numbers via the medication reviews, CDMs, and post lap-band care appointments, the average patient billing is $80+. There is plenty of footfall past the front door as they are in a shopping centre that offers long-term leases. The new 6-year lease started in October 2023. There is direct entrance via a wheelchair-friendly pathway from the car park.

8 doctors currently hotdesk with 7 consultation rooms and a 2-bed treatment room. They hold 5x 19AB exemptions, 4 of which are held by current doctors with 1 available for a new GP who requires DPA exemption. They are an approved business sponsor eligible to recruit doctors from overseas. Doctors get a fee split according to the number of days they work:

65% = 4 days or with special/additional skills (skin cancer)
